So I've been living monophasically, with my typical schedule; sleeping days, staying up nights. I'm procrastinating on something else so I decided to give some sort of update on my plans.
Thing is that I don't really see Uberman as a viable long-term option, even though it fits better to me than probably for anyone else. Figure that out. Still, I would like to adapt to it. I think long-term Everyman is the best for me, but I still want every now and then to go into "work-mode" and then use Uberman. Wish it'd be that easy though. Here I am talking about living the live switching between Everyman and Uberman, while I haven't even successfully converted to either! Maybe it's the 4½-1½ style that fits me better.
But yeah, while I might not see Uberman as a long-term option, if I managed to adapt I could keep going for as long as I feel like. Besides, I really want to adapt to it, it's like the holy grail of polyphasic sleep and I'm somewhat becoming obsessed with it. I guess my friends think I'm a nutcase. Well, I am.
But yeah, next adaptation was supposed to be SPAMAYL, and it will be, sort of. I will be doing Uberman Steve Pavlina-style, with extra naps at night when I feel like it. Which is kind of SPAMAYL, right? It's hard to decide when to start though. This soccer-playing is really taking my juices out and I think that I need plenty of time to recover. In terms of responsibilities I could start in a week, but I just don't know if it is the right time to start.
I am consistently feeling like I need WAY more time though. Maybe I should just compromise my training, taking it a little easier and just start the adaptation. Still, there are the matches, those really fuck me up. Even if I train easy, I can't avoid exhausting myself in the matches. I could take it easy in matches too, but that won't really help much in reality.
Taking naps so regularly is kind of rigid, but given that they're only 20 minutes it's not as big of a deal as you would think. The same flow keeps on going, so I just view that as a healthy break from whatever you're doing to regain concentration.
Speaking of naps, I'm a bit tired at the moment, I guess I'll take one. I have a long night ahead of me and a ton of stuff to do.
I must do some thinking these next few days, and decide what I'm going to do with my sleep. I'll be back.
Oh, about the site... It's still coming, but I just have a lot on my plate at the moment and unfortunately it is the one to be postponed. I'm kind of frustrated about that, I'll make the site soon enough. It will combine my limited knowledge of polyphasic sleep, lucid dreaming and personal development.

Day 2 of... Experimenting
Another quick update. During the small hours of the night it occured to me that I might make my schedule match more my Everyman. So I ended up adding one extra nap and changing naptimes just a bit. My new schedule reads:
2:00-2:20
5:40-6:00 - Waking up at 6:00, like I would with core.
8:10-8:30 - Same naptime as for my first nap with Everyman.
11:40-12:00 - Same naptime as for my second nap with Everyman.
15:00-15:20
18:40-19:00
22:20-22:40
We'll see how it works. I'm not really treating this as Uberman attempt anymore, it's more of just experimenting.

New Approach
So basicly the normal, cold turkey approach to Everyman isn't working for me, I just aren't as strict as I need to be. So I'll just shift to more SPAMAYL-typed approach to adaptation that many people are using these days. Basicly it's just getting up from core at a set time every day and then napping SPAMAYL-style for the rest of the day. I'll be using minimum of 90 minutes awake in between the naps. I'll keep 10:30 as my waking up time for the core, but go to sleep when I please before it.
The thing is that so far every time I've gone to bed, be it 6:30, 7:30 or even 8:00, my brain have been on fire - thoughts just fly in and out and I can't really sleep because I'm reflecting on so many things. I hope that eventually that phase will move to an earlier time with this change of schedule.
I'll I'm to the 3 hour + 3 naps schedule and will be streching my wake times whenever I can, but I'd suspect that it'll be more like 1.5 hour + 4-5 naps at the beginning. Let's examine what I have learned on the 17 days so far, this is basicly cliff notes of last post with some observations.
- The night-time phase is for some reason the easiest for me and I can go for really long time.
- In contrast, the morning is tough and usually only 2-3 hour waking time has been approriate. I haven't been very productive either during that phase.
- I have had serious problems with discipline, which I hope this SPAMAYL approach will eliminate. Maybe it won't but hopefully it will. Those discipline issues have gotten a little better, except with the set-back - today's complete crash-out.
- I'm wasting a ton of time trying to get to sleep and at times pushing the snooze button. My first priority will be to establish the habit of getting up properly every time the alarm goes off.
That's all I remember for now. I'll say as a last thing that even this continue's failed attempt still gains hours compared to monophasic, and since I'm not zombie almost ever and there isn't even that many tired hours, it's a win anyway. Only thing that lacks for me is the dream recall, I find it hard to establish a habit of remembering anything when I have to get up instantly and focus just on staying up. I'm the type that really needs to focus to remember the dreams. Well, perhaps it'll get better once I gain some kind of structure.

Recapping After 11 Days
Alright, here's the deal - I had some commitments that forced me to stay up longer than usual and therefore my schedule is messed up. I'll be starting Day 12 with nap at normal time. I'm transitioning to some sort of half-SPAMAYL / half-uberman, I'm going to explain it next.
So far as you might've noticed my performance levels have been fairly sustained mainly due to consistent oversleeps on morning hours. I've been fine in the evening. Therefore I've decided that I keep half of my schedule as it is - 17:35, 21:35 and 1:35 naps stay as they are. From small hours to noon I'll be fighting my sleepiness by using SPAMAYL with 45 minute minimum wake time.
I haven't been very committed in the mornings. My determination has been low as I've gotten more than enough extra hours even with oversleeping and as I feel fine I'm not afraid of sleep-debt accumulation. But with SPAMAYL I'm going to be committed and do my best to keep up the schedule.
This effort could go on for quite a while. Unless I crash heavily on some day (which would indicate that sleep-debt was accumulating after all), I'll keep living with this schedule. I'm happy how everything is going so far.
Let's talk shortly about those mornings. I don't know how many naps I'll be taking, but I'd think I better take the first nap as soon as first ounce of tiredness emerges, just as a pre-emptive measure. It might be that I'll be taking a ton of naps. 45 minutes is my absolute minimum but if possible, I'll try to keep it a little longer. I'll just start calling them "Nap 11.2" instead of days as there now is no set structure and there might be 10+ naps a day. I hope I won't have to do that many, but it's possible.
Eventually I hope to start limiting the naps and seeing where that goes. It might be that I'm just not able physically to do Uberman, so I'll have to find out where my limit is. Limiting permanently my sleep to four hours a day for example would be a great victory.

Day 8 - Mornings Are Still Impossible
It's kind of weird that I have no trouble while sitting, but if I start laying down I instantly start to struggle - and then in mornings I just pass out all the sudden despite sitting. This is certainly weird behaviour from my brain. Also, why doesn't the sleep dep escalate? None of what I've read about polyphasic sleep has actualized. I feel I'm not mentally the sharpest, but very close, close enough for gained 5-7 hours a day, even with oversleeps.
My aim tomorrow is just to avoid the oversleeps. I said I'll do the extra nap in SPAMAYL mentality, but we'll see. If I'm totally dead in the morning, then fine, I'll do it. I'd like to manage to adapt to real Uberman though. Also I'm interested to see if I'd not do the oversleep, whether I'd struggle for the whole day or just the couple of first phases.
I feel like I'm pretty free to do anything - I'm sort of partly adapted. I feel I'm not accumulating sleep deprivation as I'm getting REM often enough during my naps.

I just watched a Simpsons episode right after waking up and amazingly I didn't fall asleep, but it must have been close; although I don't remember missing anything, I entered different state of mind. I need to be more careful from now on. I want to avoid all the extra sleeps.
As for my typing speeds, my top speed keeps deteriotating. Is it a mark that I'm beginning to get sleep-deprived? It doesn't seem a temporary hitch for sure, but we'll be wiser tomorrow.
I've been putting my computer alarm to sound every few minutes and I have my headphones on. It's really effective in keeping me in alert state - I always startle when the sound bangs all the sudden and sends a surge of adrenaline through my body.

To be honest I'm completely undecided what I do tomorrow morning. SPAMAYL-styled naps really didn't seem to solve anything on the basis of one morning - I'm still destroyed at that time and will still oversleep and can't help it at all. However if I wake up from an oversleep those extra naps might help in evening out the groggedness, but I'm not even that sure about that.
Only staple seems to be that I'm tired morning to noon and completely fresh afternoon - small hours, peaking at around midnight. Now I would like to know if it stays that way if I don't oversleep in the morning. I guess that's my next morning's experiment. It might lead to wasting a few hours, but they'd be wasted sleeping anyway so whatever.

To be honest I'm completely undecided what I do tomorrow morning. SPAMAYL-styled naps really didn't seem to solve anything on the basis of one morning - I'm still destroyed at that time and will still oversleep and can't help it at all. However if I wake up from an oversleep those extra naps might help in evening out the groggedness, but I'm not even that sure about that.
Only staple seems to be that I'm tired morning to noon and completely fresh afternoon - small hours, peaking at around midnight. Now I would like to know if it stays that way if I don't oversleep in the morning. I guess that's my next morning's experiment. It might lead to wasting a few hours, but they'd be wasted sleeping anyway so whatever.

I keep pounding these solid naps in. Though I have to say I feel more suspectible to sleepiness than usual...
On typing test I made a new record for English, but really struggled to type fast. I guess I'm not my freshest any more.
After some point I just passed out and overslept for at least an hour. I decided that's enough and turned to SPAMAYL.

I try to follow as closely the original program as possible, but now I have to fend for myself in this bout of tiredness. Let's see if I can beat this morning tiredness with well coordinated naps, cause so far I've just kept passing out without a warning. Hard to adjust when you keep oversleeping. My aim is to need as little extra naps as possible and for the most part stick to the naps on the original times.

I reset stats because after this nap I accidentally fell asleep couple of times. Only 10-15 minutes both, but as they're unintentional it sucks. I've been struggling to stay awake, I don't know why, perhaps it's the extra naps and changing the schedule. We'll see in coming days whether the extra nap or two will help me and whether it'll change my mental clarity for the rest of the day. As of current I'm now feeling fine, I could probably go laying on the bed without fear of passing out unintentionally.

It was a supershort nap but it hit the spot.. Or so I thought. I continued watching footie while lying down and struggled to stay awake. I'm not in fact sure if I fell asleep for a moment but as I can't be sure, I'm going to deny everything. It's not superhard tiredness, if I'd just get up I'd repel it easily, but I want to watch my footie while lying around.
